What are the differences and what are they used for?

For full guidance on setting up Alerts, see this article.

Both Agents and Alerts can be used in your account to bring important information to your attention, but work in very different ways and for different purposes.

Agents review and analyze all data related to their type. For example, an AI Impact Agent will consider all data related to your AI Adoption trends alongside Velocity and Quality data, and then surface insights and patterns that would be difficult to detect by manually reviewing the data. Agents can also be given detailed context and learn over time what is most important to you and your organization.

They provide you with Signals and analysis of what is happening in your organization at a deeper level to bring your attention to potential issues or changes before they become problems, as well as highlighting areas of improvement. These signals will always include a priority score and provide the raw data that was considered for your review.

Agents are best used to surface actionable intelligence in different areas based on the Agent type being used and will provide dynamic insights while continuing to learn and improve over time.

Alerts are created to trigger a notification based on specific defined criteria defined by you to ensure that important changes or not missed.

For example, an Alert might be set to trigger if a Critical bug has not progressed to an In Progress status within 3 days, of if a key initiative has new Blocked items that should be addressed so that it can progress.

Options for what you can trigger an Alert from are almost endless and can be based on any metric in your catalog, however it is key that you know exactly what you want to be notified of in order to set them up.

Alerts are best used when there are specific items that you want brought to your attention in an easy and actionable way so they can be addressed appropriately.
